Project Overview:
The property is a 4 storey Victorian mid-terrace family home near Clapton Pond.
The principal objective was to convert the lower ground floor - currently functioning as the family kitchen, dining & informal lounge - into a semi-autonomous 1 bed annexe for an extended family member. The annexe was to function as a pied-a-terre in London, providing a formal guest suite, whilst also accommodating a high degree of shared living and socal interation.
In order to allocate the entire lower ground floor to the annexe, the kitchen for the main house needed to be relocated to the rear projection at ground level - this allowing much better access to the large rear garden.
The basement annexe has it's own street entrance, and the small rear lightwell was extended to provide improved daylight & views to the garden, together with a dedicated private external terrace.
With the main kitchen relocated to the garden level, an extended terrace was provded with extensive hard & soft landscaping, including a built in bench & large dedicated external dining area.
Our simple palette of materials and standard products are used throughout to provide an efficient construction process whilst also creating a high quality, tailored, modern aesthetic.
